Scott Pilgrim, Volume 3 by Bryan Lee O'Malley

The evil ex for this volume didn’t quite catch my attention though. It was nice to get a better build up for her and it makes me hope we see her a little more. Despite her coldness I really did warm to her as a character and I feel like this is depth we never really get for him in the movie because her arc is so rushed there. We get to see some of Scott’s past (none of which really endears me to him) and how Envy Adams became the sensation she is today. While she’s not a good person I really love her as a character. Envy Adams, the cover character for this volume is particularly cold and takes center stage for much of the story.

However, that doesn’t make the story any less enjoyable. None of them seem to care about the people around them outside of their direct relationships with them. In fact, many of the characters in the series are pretty terrible people who seem mostly self absorbed. S cott Pilgrim is not a series where I feel like you’re meant to root for the main character.
